It looks set to be a busy week but we're off to London on Friday so at least there is something to look forward to. With D out one night this week it means the meal plan is pretty short as I'll be resorting to something simple and boring. Does anyone else find themselves not bothering to cook when they're on their own? I lived alone for about a year in my early twenties and basically turned into a slice of toast...
Anyway...
• Asparagus feature #1 - this lovely pasta dish.
• Asparagus feature #2 - something with eggs and Wensleydale cheese - possibly an omelette or a delicately cheesy scramble.
• Mrs M's Szechuan king prawns with egg rice and some tenderstem broccoli which I plan to stir fry with garlic and ginger.
• When we get home on Sunday I doubt we'll be in the mood to do anything much so I've got Ready To Cook smoked haddock fillets with a cheese sauce and I might stir myself to do some green stuff on the side.
And that's it! As always, pop over to Mrs M's for more meal planning fun.

My final year at uni I existed almost permanently on rice, sweetcorn and peas with soy sauce. I didn't look good on it. And then when I first met my fiance, I was mainly eating marmite on toast. He used to break into my bedsit and stock the fridge with stuff! Sweet...

Oh bless that is lovely! I wish I liked Marmite on toast - so much better for me than cheese...
DeleteI actually cook more when I am on my own because I can have whatever I want. Lots of my favourite recipes were shelved when I got married because Jewhurst is a fussy beggar ;) So time to cook alone is bliss! But yes, in the past there were days when I would just have cereal for tea and I loved it ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're a much nicer wife than me - I just put stuff down in front of D most of the time ;-) I don't think there is too much he doesn't like, but he does have a habit of downing all his veg as quickly as possible so he can get on to the "nice" bit of the meal...
DeleteRich does that!! I wondered what was going on at first then gradually worked it out....glad he's not the only child/man out there.
DeleteAh, you're a Weight Watchers food blogger! I'm a Slimming World one, so I'll pop back and see what recipes we can share. Lovely to meet you x
ReplyDeleteLikewise! I'm looking forward to trying some of your recipes - they look fab.
DeleteMmmm asparagus - my little boy would happily come to your house for dinner!
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be done this time of the year ;-)
DeleteI am going to start following you as I need to go back onto WW diet soon.....I have fallen off the wagon....
ReplyDeleteKaren, I am always falling off the wagon! But I reckon as long as I keep getting back on I'll get there eventually!!
