MPM: 13th April 2015

After being a little OTT with our spend for Easter Sunday, D and I decided to reign it in for a couple of weeks.  Which has meant taking a critical look at the contents of the freezer and the cupboards and using those as the basis for meal planning.  We've actually ended up with some really yummy dishes - (I would definitely rock the Masterchef invention test) and, across two weeks, our total food shopping bill has probably come in at around £50 in total.

This week, I've got book group on Tuesday, so D will be freezer diving (there's a portion of coq a la biere in there that I reckon has his name all over it) and on Wednesday we're heading out for another one of our Cheap Nights Out, as we continue to explore the best and lowest priced that Leeds has to offer.  Elsewhere we will mostly be eating:

Sausages, mash and onion gravy
Burmese chicken soup
Chilli con carne with rice and herbed yoghurt
Spaghetti with 'Nduja

More meal planning fun over at Mrs M's.

    1. I can't take credit, it's courtesy of Mr Waitrose (but will be tasty just the same!)

  2. Good plan. I did something similar this week re the freezer and it looks like a mismatched sausage casserole tonight using the various odd bangers I found knocking round and a chicken laksa later in the week!

Hope you have a serene, spring week and find joy daily. Lxx

    1. It's from Waitrose so I can't take ANY credit but is very tasty and a relatively virtuous way of having a meal that tends towards curry...

  4. Our week's a bit of that too, our pre-Easter food shop was just ridiculous...probably cos we went to Tesco and not Aldi :p 'Nduja sounds like my hubby's kind of thing, might need to try and get hold of some of that! Hope you have a great week xx

    1. The cost of a leg of lamb almost made me cry! But it was worth it for several delicious meals.

'Nduja - I'm soooo over excited, I've had it out a few times but never got round to buying any to cook at home. Any good Italian deli will probably have some - and it keeps for ages in the fridge apparently. I want to try it with cheese on toast!!

    1. "We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves". I liked it but didn't love it as much as I expected based on the review.

Cauliflower rice? I've not tried it but seen a lot of other WW members rave about it...? I love chilli but D's is seriously hot so I need lots of
      cooling agents dolloped on top!
