They were first introduced to England by a Frenchman in the Victorian times. He opened a Bakery In Oldham, Lancashire selling his ''French muffins'' His name was Amand Auguste Edouard Declercq. The bakery in Oldham only closed down around 20 years ago. Also, the original recipe called for lard to be used, not butter or oil. I got this from an bold retired baker that worked for Declercqs for over 50 years.Voldemorthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09074178924650030481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1023481322800300149.post-26855924567585447232020-07-05T01:52:13.043+01:002020-07-05T01:52:13.043+01:00This comment has been removed by the author.Voldemorthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09074178924650030481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1023481322800300149.post-73650365003820001202020-06-05T18:42:00.556+01:002020-06-05T18:42:00.556+01:00This is the second time and if they are as good as...This is the second time and if they are as good as the first ,,, i will stuff my face 😁😁Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16651865996020048075noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1023481322800300149.post-90995785494008339292020-06-04T15:57:20.224+01:002020-06-04T15:57:20.224+01:00Look's great I'm going to give these a whi...Look's great I'm going to give these a whirl.Andy BRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795988330283006790noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1023481322800300149.post-58620007305024075342020-04-12T11:59:13.722+01:002020-04-12T11:59:13.722+01:00That’s really interesting - thank you! As a previous poster commented they should be no deeper than 1", they should also be denser than usual bread. Do not use convection as this circulates heat evenly, you want the heat to be above the dough rather than circulating around it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1023481322800300149.post-63941806139620957492020-04-04T10:50:05.499+01:002020-04-04T10:50:05.499+01:00No need!
